“Changing Perspectives in Contemporary American Art”

AN ART EXHIBITION

FOR NAAHBCU MEMBERS AND THE NORTH CAROLINA A & T STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTY AND ART ALUMNI

The National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities has been invited to hold a special art exhibition at North Carolina A&T State University located in Greensboro, North Carolina (from October 26th through November 26th,2018). N.C. A&T is an 1890 land-grant institution currently ranked as a doctoral higher research activity university by Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education. Throughout its 127-year history, N.C. has maintained a rich tradition in academics, research, and outreach. N.C. A&T is the largest HBCU in the nation and is the number one producer of engineering degrees on the undergraduate level awarded to African Americans. In addition, the theatre arts program is nationally ranked by Black Broadway as one of the top five theatre arts programs for African American students in the nation.

THEME

“Changing Perspectives in Contemporary American Art” will be open for your interpretation. This will be a juried exhibition and will also include N.C. A&T art faculty, and perhaps several noted alumni artists.

NAAHBCU artists are invited to submit no more than two related works for this special exhibition which may be abstract,  representational, non-representational, cultural or symbolic, all of which could be related to the above theme. (Please make sure that your 2018-19 membership will be current by the time you submit your artwork.)

ELIGIBILITY

2-dimensional media will include painting, photography, graphics, printmaking, textiles and mixed media. 3D such as ceramics, sculpture, and installations are eligible, however, it may be advisable to hand deliver any 3D artwork to N.C. A&T. Artists are responsible for RT shipping,
